Light, darkness
There is only what you bring with you. Solitude gives you the space and time to find what you can leave behind.
Untitled space no.4 is a room in which you are the only visible object. The walls are covered in dark fabric and the light is carefully focused to create the effect. A convex mirror allows you to see your own isolation in the space. The light is tuned to roughly the amount of starlight you’d experience in deep intergalactic space. The exterior of the room has a hole cut in the wall where outside viewers can observe a distant reflection of themselves.
The interior shots were difficult to document due to the low lighting. I used the camera settings of 1”, f4, ISO20000 and a timer for the photos of myself in the space.
You remain the only visible object even after your eyes fully adjust.
The walls are covered in a fabric I found after extensive research and testing of light absorbing surfaces.

A hole is cut in the outside wall to reveal a mirror suspended in perfect darkness.
